Speed.FM

Speed.FM is an Afro-Latin duo composed of Monjure Walker (he/they) and Zachary Perez (he/him), exploring the deep lineage of sound—from tribal African rhythms to the street-born seduction of Latin beats. Formed in Philadelphia in 2022. Speed FM formed in Philadelphia in 2022, the duo first bonded over DJing, learning the craft together while drawing inspiration from artists like Arca, Safety Trance, Nick Leon, Florentino, and ZUTZUT. Their sets move like a slow-burning stimulant—fast, euphoric club tempos melt into the hazy come-down of neo-perreo and reggaeton, keeping bodies moving through waves of guaracha, footwork, and deep-cut dub atmospheres. One moment, you're locked into a 2000s reggaeton groove, the next, you’re drifting through something ambient, hypnotic. Speed.FM isn’t just here for the rush; they’re here for longevity. A reminder that the night stretches far and wide, and that pleasure is best when paced. Speed.FM are residents of House of Chicks, a women-owned and operated dance music collective, and are a regular fixture at Slumberland Festival, a nonprofit sanctuary where arts, community, and sound dissolve into one. They’ve left their mark on venues across the Tri-State underground, from the storied 18th Street Lounge (DC)—once the haunt of Thievery Corporation—to The Dolphin Tavern and The 700 (PHL), Rubulad and Slumberland Music Festival (NYC). They have been an active participant in the community performing more recently in DC at the 13th Street Block Party that focuses on mutual aid and bringing resources to those in need in the community. They have played alongside DJs including Tromac, Baronhawk Portier, Jewelsea, and Cubby.
