Shai FM is a Philadelphia-based DJ and producer known for blending UK bass, techno, and global club sounds into shapeshifting sets with low end pressure. Growing up with a cross-cultural upbringing in the SF bay area, he’s drawn to an approach rather than genre, exploring hybrid sounds with syncopated rhythm, space, and tension. He hosts a monthly show on Great Circles Radio, has performed at Making Time festival in Philadelphia, and was selected as Resident Advisor's Mix of the Day. Recent shows have seen him in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, sharing lineups with Batu, Sister Zo, and Nikki Nair. His sets move fluidly across tempos and genres, exploring percussive variation and genre-blurring track selections. As a producer, he maintains a distinct sonic signature that merges a wide range of influences. His production centers on rhythm as the driving force, layered with dense low-end and textural detail, spanning from functional club tools to introspective ambient dub. With a growing discography, he’s earned plays on platforms like Rinse FM and NTS, with support from artists like Om Unit, Interstellar Funk and more. His latest EP, Polarize, is out on Elicit Records.
