DJ Freedom is the force behind Real House on WKDU 91.7FM, a show that has grown into one of Philadelphia’s most respected spaces for house music. A DJ since 1991, his sound moves through funky house, deep house, and house with soul and emotion. Everything he plays comes from feeling, movement, and the culture he came up in. Before Real House, Freedom helped shape Philly’s underground by bringing major house pioneers to the city for the first time. Through the parties he threw, he introduced Philadelphia to DJ Pierre, Todd Edwards, Barbara Tucker, Glenn Underground, Ron Carroll and more. His time at Space put him on the map as a DJ who played alongside legends from around the globe and as someone who pushed the city’s house scene forward. On WKDU, he keeps that spirit alive by bringing world class guests to the airwaves and curating sets that connect the past, present, and future of house music. For the Electronic Music Marathon, expect a set built on funk, depth, and emotion — the sound of a DJ who lived the history and still moves it forward.
